About Traditional Chinese Medicine practiced at Great Wall Herbal
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is the oldest, most comprehensive, safest and most effective medical system that exists. It has sustained the health of the world's longest surviving civilization with the longest-lived population on the planet for over five thousand years. It is considered an "inductive" science that reaches conclusions based universal principles and observed instances (as opposed blind, reactionary studies of cause and effect). TCM Practitioners have a wealth of substantiated resources to draw upon with a meticulously recorded history of clinical research spanning more than three thousand years. What's more, TCM is deeply rooted in the primordial principles of "Tao," that harmonious balance of Yin and Yang so uniquely apparent in the human being.
While modern medicine might view disease as a malevolent external invasion by an enemy that must be destroyed, TCM views a state of depletion or vacuity establishing vulnerability that allows malevolent agents to enter the body and cause disease. Treatment protocols of TCM are directed toward what is referred to as the "root" of a disease rather than aggressively attacking superficial manifestations or symptoms. For example, Western "modern" medicine might see a leak in a dyke and rush to plug it causing more leaks to spring up elsewhere. TCM would note there is too much water behind the dyke, relieve the water pressure and allow the dyke to settle back do its normal, leak-free state. Since Chinese medicine is a "whole person" medicine; the root of the disease might be found in the "physical plane" (viscera, trauma, genetic, etc.), or on the inspirational or "spiritual plane" (divided into seven the "passions" of anger, joy, preoccupation, grief, fear, fright and rage). Modern medicine is a little more blunt, offering a pain pill if you're damaged or a drug if you're "stressed out."
There are more than 2000 items listed in Chinese herbal pharmacopoeia, but only about 350 are used in general practice, and only about 100 are regarded as indispensable in formulating the most popular medicines. Of these, each is carefully measured to work in harmonious conjunction with others so none overpowers or nullifies a singular, desired effect on another (this is also why Doctors of Traditional Chinese Medicine formulate our products and not just some well-meaning clerk with a mortar pestle). When applying these herbs in treatment protocol, the primary focus is to support the rehabilitation of natural functions of the body and its mechanisms. This is accomplished by applying the naturopathic strategies of "tonify, transform, regulate, drain, release, clear, expel, calm and relieve." This differs from modern medicine that tends to "mask, replace, simulate, suppress and remove." Using herbal remedies is most definitely the safer alternative to prescription medications!
While Traditional Chinese Medicine may take a little longer to metabolize compared to Western medicines and pharmaceuticals, it will ultimately provide longer-lasting, naturally recurring, self-attuned benefits rather than just temporary, artificially fabricated results. Furthermore, when taken as directed there are no noteworthy side effects to Traditional Chinese Medicine simply because it works in concert with your own body, urging it to do what it has evolved to do: thrive, naturally. Western medicines, on the other hand, tend come with a litany of warnings like "may cause back ache, stomach ache, blindness, heart attack, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts..." Who needs that? Great Wall Hebal's TCM strengthens, reinforces and supports your body's natural processes resulting in nothing less than all you can be: Vital, invigorated, confident, healthy and aglow with life - The natural you, fortified!
